The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Muniru Haruna for the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Orile-Ilugun, Odeda Local Government Area. The incident was reported to the police on Saturday, March 1, 2025, by the victim’s mother, 20-year-old Alaba Abdullahi.

According to the police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the mother reported that the suspect, who resides in the same area, allegedly committed the act while the child was playing nearby. The incident came to light when Alaba heard her daughter crying and found her emerging from Haruna’s room in visible distress. Upon further examination, the child showed signs of physical trauma and had difficulty walking.

The victim and the suspect were immediately taken to General Hospital Odeda for medical examination and treatment. Medical forms have been issued, and the police are awaiting the doctor’s report to proceed with the case.

Haruna, who has denied the allegations, is currently in police custody. The case has been referred to the division crime branch for investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Eleweran upon completion of preliminary inquiries.

CSP Odutola emphasized that the Ogun State Police Command takes the allegation very seriously and is committed to ensuring justice for the victim. She reiterated that the safety and well-being of the community, particularly children, remain top priorities for the command.

The police have urged anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
