The Ogun State Police Command has heightened security operations at the Sagamu Interchange following public concerns over safety in the area.
In a proactive move, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, deployed additional tactical units—including the Quick Intervention Squad, OP Mesa, and Mobile Police Squadrons 71 and 16—to secure key points around the interchange.
A recent drone surveillance operation uncovered illegal shanties, unauthorized revenue collection by touts, and unsafe commercial activities under the bridge. CP Ogunlowo has ordered the immediate clearance of these structures, with enforcement set to begin on April 3, 2025.
The police have also engaged transport unions to relocate commercial operations to safer, well-lit zones. While Ogun State remains largely peaceful, residents are urged to stay vigilant and avoid late-night travels where possible.
The Command reassured the public of its commitment to safety through strengthened collaboration with sister agencies and the state government.
