Abeokuta – In a move to strengthen inter-ethnic relations and foster unity, Honourable Monday Chukwuji, Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun on Inter-Ethnic Relations, paid a courtesy visit to the Igbira/Idoma community in Abeokuta on Sunday.

The visit, which was warmly received by leaders and members of the community, highlighted the state government’s dedication to inclusivity and peaceful coexistence among all residents, regardless of ethnic background.

Chief Opeka, Chairman of the Igbira/Idoma Town Union, expressed deep appreciation for the visit, stating that it demonstrated Governor Abiodun’s commitment to fostering unity across diverse ethnic groups in Ogun State.

“We are delighted that Governor Dapo Abiodun has sent his representative to engage with us. This gesture shows that our governor values every citizen and is determined to ensure that no community is left behind in his administration’s development agenda,” Chief Opeka remarked.

Similarly, Chief Simon Moses, the OCHO (traditional leader) of the Idoma people in Ogun State, pledged the unwavering support of the Igbira/Idoma community for Governor Abiodun’s administration.

“Governor Abiodun is a leader who prioritises peace and development. The Igbira and Idoma people in Abeokuta and across Ogun State stand firmly with him because we have seen his genuine efforts in transforming the state,” Chief Moses affirmed.

Honourable Chukwuji took the opportunity to outline the numerous infrastructural and developmental projects executed by the Abiodun-led administration in the past six years. He emphasised the governor’s strides in road construction, education, healthcare, and security, which have significantly improved the quality of life in Ogun State.

“From the construction of major highways like the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway to the revitalisation of schools and hospitals, Governor Abiodun has demonstrated visionary leadership. His focus on security has also made Ogun State one of the safest in Nigeria,” Chukwuji stated.

Addressing security concerns, Honourable Chukwuji reassured the community of the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

“Governor Abiodun places the highest priority on the safety of all residents. I urge you to remain law-abiding and go about your legitimate business without fear. The government is working tirelessly to ensure a secure and prosperous Ogun State for everyone,” he said.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to sustain dialogue and collaboration between the state government and the Igbira/Idoma community to promote socio-economic development and peaceful coexistence.

This engagement underscores Governor Abiodun’s inclusive governance approach, ensuring that all ethnic groups in Ogun State feel represented and valued. As the administration continues to drive progress, such interactions reinforce the message of unity and shared prosperity under the “Building Our Future Together” agenda.
