Abeokuta – In a move aimed at bolstering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s new ward-based development strategy, Hon. Olumide Osoba, the House of Representatives member representing Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, and Odeda local government, has commenced a program of distributing bags of rice and fertilisers across the 38 wards in his constituency. The initiative, dubbed “Ward Grain Distribution” and “Ward Outreach,” officially began today in Abeokuta.
The program directly supports the President’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), which was recently adopted by the National Economic Council (NEC). The RHWDP is designed to accelerate grassroots development and lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty through direct interventions in critical areas such as food security, rural electrification, infrastructure improvement, and economic stimulation.
Speaking at the launch event, which took place at 1 Ataba Close, Ibara Housing GRA, Hon. Olumide Osoba expressed his enthusiasm for President Tinubu’s vision. “I am happy to support President Tinubu’s initiative,” he said, highlighting that the RHWDP targets Nigeria’s 8,809 administrative wards across the country. He emphasised that the program is a direct intervention mechanism for poverty alleviation and economic stimulation, which aligns with his own commitment to his constituents.
The event saw a large turnout of ward representatives and community leaders from all 38 wards of the federal constituency. The beneficiaries, representing the grassroots, were on hand to receive the relief materials.
Among the dignitaries and party leaders who attended the event were Alhaja Faida Akintunde Sarumi, the APC party chairman in Abeokuta North; Hon. Musulumi Saka, the APC Chairman for Odeda local government; and Hon. Olude, the party chairman for Obafemi-Owode. They collectively thanked the lawmaker for his consistent support for the people at the grassroots. They also pledged their unwavering support for him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all other elected leaders.
