The Conference of Local Government Supervisors and Special Advisers in Ogun State has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his transformative leadership and commitment to grassroots development. The group issued a communiqué at the end of its August meeting held on Wednesday, 13th August 2025, attended by members from all 20 local governments in the state.
The meeting extensively discussed members’ welfare, local government autonomy, and socio-economic development initiatives in Ogun State. Key resolutions from the conference include:
1. Tribute to Governor Abiodun’s Leadership: The Conference lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun CON for his visionary leadership, wisdom, and dedication to transforming Ogun State into a model for other states in Nigeria.
2. Recognition of Inclusive Governance: The group affirmed that Ogun State has become a reference point for participatory democracy under the current administration, benefiting both state and local government levels.
3. Appreciation for Grassroots Development: Members expressed gratitude to the governor for his efforts in extending development projects to rural communities, improving the living standards of residents.
4. Infrastructural Growth: The Conference highlighted the unprecedented infrastructural advancements across local governments, contributing significantly to the state’s economic progress.
5. Local Government Autonomy: The group applauded Governor Abiodun for upholding true local government autonomy, making Ogun one of the few states complying with the Supreme Court’s directive on independent council administration.
6. Call for Welfare Extension: While acknowledging the governor’s support for Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, and Councillors, the Conference appealed for similar welfare packages to be extended to Supervisors and Special Advisers.
7. Pledge of Support: The body reaffirmed its loyalty to the administration, endorsing the governor’s “Igbega Ipinle Ogun, Ajose Wa Ni” (Building Our Future Together) mantra.
8. Collaboration Call: Stakeholders were urged to collaborate with the state government to sustain developmental strides.
9. Vote of Confidence: A unanimous vote of confidence was passed on Governor Abiodun for revitalising local government administration.
Political Endorsement: The Conference also called on Remo Federal Constituency voters to support the APC and its candidate, Hon. Elegbeji Adesola, in the upcoming by-election.
