ODOGBOLU, OGUN STATE – The Ogun State police has officially filed a two-count charge against Fasola Olamide, the 50-year-old former Secretary of Odogbolu Local Government, in the Odogbolu Magisterial District for alleged conspiracy and forgery. Others implicated in the case are still at large..

The charges, with case number MOD/97C/2025, were brought by the Commissioner of Police against Fasola Olamide. Presiding over the case is Magistrate S.S. Sotayo of the Senior Magistrate Court 2, Odogbolu.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged crimes occurred on December 28, 2023, while Olamide was still serving as the Council’s secretary. Count I accuses him of conspiracy to commit a felony, specifically forgery, which is punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Count II further alleges that Olamide Fashola forged a letter dated December 28, 2023, with the intent that it may be used or acted upon as genuine to the prejudiced to the Odogbolu Local Government Council and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 467 of the same law.

The prosecution, led by I.A. Opayemi, Esq., a legal officer from the Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, emphasizes the State’s ongoing commitment to tackling official corruption and document fraud The court has adjourned the case to September 9th, 2025. Authorities are actively working to apprehend the other suspects involved in the case.
The arraignment of Fasola Olamide is in relation to the Okun Owa Chieftaincy tussle, which he falsely and criminally misrepresented the true state of affairs to the then Awujale of Ijebu land , Alayeluwa, late Dr. Sikiru Adetona with the intent of misleading the Awujale and the Ijebu Traditional Concil. He had falsely claimed to be present and observed the kangaroo meeting held on 25th March 2022 in total disregard for an order of the court subsisting at that time. Regrettably, the false report was written 1 year and 10 months after the kangaroo meeting was held.
To show how mean and callous he was, he scored a candidate, Prince Taiwo Adebayo, who had protested the absence of officials of the Local Government and left the venue, zero.
More facts will emerge when trial commences.
