The Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, Dare Alebiosu, on Tuesday warned three other ruling houses in Ijebu Ode to steer clear of meddlesomeness and any act capable of derailing the selection process of the new Awujale.
The four ruling houses that produce the occupant of the Awujale throne in Ijebu Ode are Fidipote, Gbelegbuwa, Anikilaya, and Fusengbuwa.
The last Awujale who joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, at 91 after reigning for 65 years was from Anikilaya, and now it is the turn of the Fusengbuwa ruling house to produce the occupant of the exalted throne.
Speaking virtually during the visit of the Fusengbuwa ruling house elders to his office, led by the head of the ruling house, Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, Alebiosu assured the family that the government won’t allow or tolerate any unbecoming acts from the three other ruling houses that may jeopardise the peaceful selection of the next Awujale.
Alebiosu disclosed this while reacting to Otunba Owoyemi’s allegation that the three other ruling houses, Fidipote, Anikilaya and Gbelegbuwa, are fanning embers of discord and interfering unnecessarily in the affairs of the Fusengbuwa ruling house.
The former ICAN President had said that the Fusengbuwa ruling house was actually at the local government to report the antics of the other three ruling houses to the council authority.
Owoyemi said, “We would also appeal to you to please convene an urgent meeting with the leaders of the three other Awujale Ruling Houses, Fidipote, Gbelegbuwa and Anikilaya, and request them to please leave us in Fusengbuwa Ruling House alone to resolve our differences ourselves.
“They should please not continue to fan the embers of discord or promote the diabolical efforts being made to destabilise our Ruling House, by deliberately pouring fuel on the fire lit by a dissident unit, trying to undermine and destroy the entire family.
“Fusengbuwa Ruling House had never interfered in the affairs of any of the three Awujale sister Ruling Houses, and in the name of Almighty God and reverence for our noble ancestors, stop meddling in the affairs of our house.
“These interlopers are unwittingly setting a very bad and dangerous precedent for others to follow in the future and with clearly foreseeable disastrous consequences”
The LG boss, while responding, explained that the government is on top of the situation and won’t condone any form of illegality, adding that the next Awujale would definitely come from Fusengbuwa, who has a lot of illustrious sons to put forward for the throne.
He added, “I heard you saying that some other ruling houses are trying to interfere or meddle in the affairs of Fusengbuwa or engage in some kind of smear campaign.
“I want to assure you that the government is on top of everything and we won’t allow or encourage any unbecoming act, this is not a banana Republic and so we won’t allow anything of such to happen.
“I will report back to the governor. We won’t allow any interloper; each ruling house has its turn, and now it is the turn of Fusengbuwa, so no interloper will be allowed.
“The Fusengbuwa has lots of capable people, so we will ensure that the right thing is done.
“I will study all your documents and get back to you when I am back in town”.
Others in attendance during the meeting were Oba Sikiru Okuribido, the Dagburewe of Idowa Ijebu, Saderiren of Isoyin, Oba Abdurasheed Salami, Onirete of Irete of Ijebu, Oba Abdulganiyu Awokoya-Yesufu among others.
