Abeokuta – The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has expressed gratitude to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his consistent support of the institution while appealing for increased intervention to address pressing needs.
In a statement issued on Monday, the union, led by its President, Comrade Temitope Afolabi (popularly known as Big Afo), lauded the Governor’s “enduring interventions, donations, and support,” which they credited for helping the polytechnic achieve significant milestones.
“On behalf of the entire MAPOLY community, we sincerely appreciate His Excellency’s vision for education and his unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of our students and staff,” the statement read.
While acknowledging past support, the student body outlined key areas requiring the state government’s attention to improve the learning environment and accommodate a growing student population. Their appeals include:
· The provision of modern ICT facilities to advance digital literacy and online learning.
· The construction of additional lecture halls and hostels to ease congestion.
· Support for research initiatives and academic conferences to foster intellectual growth.
· The provision of accessible transportation for students and staff.
The SUG emphasized that such investments would not only elevate the academic experience at MAPOLY but also contribute to producing a skilled workforce capable of driving national development.
The union concluded by expressing optimism for a sustained partnership with the state government, urging continued investment in the educational sector to secure a brighter future for students and the community at large.
