Awa town in Ijebu North Local Government on Monday, November 24, 2025, witnessed a colourful and energetic start to the 2025 Awa Day celebrations as a Health Walk sponsored by Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun State on Housing, OPIC, and Special Projects, Prince (Arc.) Farooq Adenugba, flagged off the week-long programme of activities.




The exercise-themed event, tagged “Prince Farooq Adenugba Health Walk,” drew community leaders, youths, party members, and residents who turned out in large numbers to promote physical fitness and healthy living within the community.
The Health Walk served as the opening ceremony for the 2025 Awa Day programme, setting the tone for a week dedicated to unity, development advocacy, and cultural celebration in Awa land.
Prince Adenugba, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by the APC Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Mosunmola Oladipo. He was joined by notable party leaders, Prince Akeem Ademosun and Comrade Akeem Akilo, who collectively led participants on the fitness walk through major streets in the town.
Speaking after the event, HRH Oba Amos A. Awobajo JP, Lagbelu II, The Limeri of Awa Ijebu commended Prince Adenugba for his consistent commitment to community development and public health advocacy, describing the Health Walk as a timely intervention that encourages residents to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
Participants praised the initiative, noting that the programme not only promoted wellness but also reinforced the spirit of togetherness among Awa indigenes ahead of the main cultural celebrations later in the week.
The Awa Day 2025 activities are expected to continue with a series of social, cultural, and developmental events aimed at projecting the heritage of the town and advancing its growth agenda.
