Abeokuta – The Ogun State Government has unveiled a ₦20 million business grant initiative under the Dapo Abiodun Youth Forum (DAYF), aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs across the state’s 20 local government areas.

The grant, designed to support 200 young business owners, seeks to cushion the economic effects of subsidy removal and reinforce the developmental agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
During a working visit to the Commissioner for Sports Development and Youth Affairs, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, the Central Working Committee of DAYF, led by its Convener and Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Aroboto Rasheed, discussed preparations for the 6th edition of the forum’s annual programme.
Commissioner Isiaka commended the initiative, describing it as a “clear paradigm shift” in youth engagement. “We are gradually moving from the era of exuberance in youth, from commercial thuggery to driving government’s policies and becoming important tools in reshaping progressive conversation,” he stated.
He emphasized the resilience and innovative spirit of Ogun youths, noting their use of technology and digital exposure to address brain drain. The business grant, he added, will encourage more young individuals to develop sustainable business ideas.
Before unveiling the grant, Isiaka urged the DAYF team to foster unity and collaboration with other youth structures in the state. “Let’s learn to harness ideas and be inclusive in our movement. It is better to move together in unity than to be divided by unnecessary rivalry. In unity lies progress,” he advised.
In his response, Convener Aroboto Rasheed expressed confidence in the programme’s success and assured the commissioner of efforts to engage all necessary stakeholders peacefully. He also extended appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun and progressive individuals who have supported the forum.
The initiative aligns with the state’s continued focus on youth-centered programmes aimed at fostering economic growth and social cohesion.
