The management of Odeda Local Government has issued a stern warning to residents and businesses regarding individuals falsely claiming to represent the council for the collection of levies or the issuance of trade permits.
In an official press release dated today, the Local Government Authority explicitly stated that it has not engaged or authorised any contractor to collect rates or levies on its behalf in 2026. It has also clarified that no trade permits are currently being issued.
The release identifies any person or group presenting themselves as contractors or authorised agents for these purposes as fraudsters. The public is strongly advised against engaging with such individuals.
“Any individual or group claiming to be contractors or agents on behalf of Odeda Local Government is hereby regarded as a fraudster,” the statement read, signed by the Executive Chairman, Dr Folashade Adeyemo.
The council emphasised that all official announcements regarding approved contractors or the commencement of trade permit issuance will be communicated through proper government channels at the appropriate time.
This advisory comes as a precaution to protect citizens from potential scams and financial loss.
Key Points from the Advisory:
· No Authorised Collectors: Zero contractors are approved to collect levies for Odeda LGA in 2026.
· Permits on Hold: The issuance of trade permits is currently suspended.
· Public Caution: Do not transact with anyone claiming to offer these services on behalf of the council.
· Await Official Word: Future announcements will be made through official government channels.
Signed:
Dr. Folashade Adeyemo
Executive Chairman,
Odeda Local Government.
