The Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, has urged digital content creators to prioritise their professional value and exposure over immediate financial gain.

She gave the charge on Tuesday while receiving members of the Gateway Bloggers Group on a courtesy visit to her office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Lamenting the prevalent ‘money-first’ syndrome among youths, Commissioner Adeleye advised the bloggers to remain focused, consistent, and diligent. She emphasised that monetary reward, while important, should not define their worth.

“Don’t put money first. Yes, money is good but don’t let money define your value,” Adeleye stated. “There are times that you won’t even charge; it’s the exposure you’re going to get from that job that you should look at. At the end of the day, the money will come.”

Using an agricultural metaphor, she encouraged patience, noting, “If the money is not coming now, see it as your season of sowing.”

The Commissioner also pledged her ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the grassroots-focused group, emphasising her support for local content and empowerment.

“I can assure you that in moving forward, we would work with you,” she said, while tasking the bloggers to make good use of any opportunities to pave the way for others.

Earlier, the group’s Coordinator, Olamide David, said the visit aimed to familiarise with the ministry and pledge support for the state government’s ISEYA mantra, particularly in women empowerment and social development.

He expressed the group’s readiness to partner with the ministry to spread awareness of government programmes and mobilise citizens for inclusive development.
