In a show of appreciation and solidarity, newly recruited members of the Amotekun Corps paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, on Monday, January 27, 2024. The visit was aimed at expressing gratitude for the Chairman’s unwavering support and leadership during their training and induction process.

The Amotekun Corps members lauded Hon. Avoseh for his commitment to fostering peace and security within Ipokia Local Government. They specifically thanked him for facilitating transportation from Sagamu, where their swearing-in ceremony was held, back to Ipokia. The Corps also extended their appreciation to Dr. Toyin Taiwo, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ogun State, for his instrumental role in supporting their recruitment and training.

In his remarks, Hon. Avoseh commended the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun – CON, for his proactive efforts in combating crime and creating employment opportunities through initiatives like the Amotekun Corps. He praised the Governor’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.

The Chairman also urged the new recruits to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their duties. He emphasized the importance of integrity, diligence, and discipline, warning against behaviours such as substance abuse, unauthorized roadblocks, extortion, or any actions that could tarnish the reputation of the Amotekun Corps. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their mission to protect and serve the community.

The visit was attended by key officials, including Hon. Babajide Johnson Olushola, Secretary to the Local Government, and Mr. Emmanuel Pogbe, Head of Local Government Administration.

The Amotekun Corps’ visit underscores the collaborative efforts between local government authorities and security agencies to enhance peace and security in Ogun State. It also highlights the importance of community support in ensuring the success of initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
