IPOKIA– September 3, 2025 – In a significant show of grassroots strength, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipokia Local Government Area convened a strategic meeting on Tuesday, bringing together its entire ward-level leadership to strategise on voter mobilisation and review developmental projects.
The meeting, held at the Council Conference Hall, was attended by party executives from all twelve wards, including Ward Chairmen, Secretaries, Women Leaders, and Youth Leaders. They were joined by the Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Chief Taye Zinzu Whepetoji, and other key stakeholders.
A central focus of the engagement was the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Party leaders were charged to take a leading role in mobilising community members to register, transfer, or correct their voter cards urgently to avoid last-minute rushes and ensure maximum participation.
The meeting served as a platform to highlight the local government’s achievements over the past nine months. Key projects outlined include:
Construction of new three-classroom blocks at Community Primary School, Akopin Kojola, and IPLG Primary School, Maun I. Renovations were also completed on two-classroom blocks at Community Primary Schools in Idabata and Iguu.
· Infrastructure: Successful grading of major rural and inner-community roads across all twelve wards, improving access to farms, markets, and schools. Notably, a grader abandoned for over 14 years was recovered and repaired, and a bulldozer idle in Sagamu for five years was restored to full functionality.
· Commerce: Completion of a modern commercial market hub at Vawhe Tafa, featuring 20 open stalls and two toilet units to boost local economic activity.
· Healthcare: Significant upgrades to health infrastructure at Primary Health Centres in Tube, Igbo Adigunsi (Idiroko), Mosafejo-Ajegunle, and Ifonyintedo, executed in partnership with the World Bank and the Ogun State Ministry of Health. Local immunisations were also actively conducted.
Ongoing initiatives include the rehabilitation of a fully mechanised processing centre at Odan-Ijaye, under the World Bank-supported OGSTEP programme, aimed at transforming cassava production and farmers’ income.
The contributions of legislators were also acknowledged, with commendations for the Senator representing Ogun West, the House of Representatives member for Yewa South/Ipokia, and the State Assembly member for Idiroko/Ipokia for facilitating constituency projects and supporting development initiatives.
Hon. Whepetoji expressed profound gratitude to the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, for his consistent support of the APC and for fostering an enabling environment for development. He specifically commended the progress on the ongoing General Hospital–Aferiku road in Idiroko.
The Chairman also announced that as the first phase of projects nears completion, preparations for a second phase of development projects have already begun, promising greater impact for residents.
During an interactive session, ward leaders provided feedback on member welfare and shared strategies for improved coordination. The meeting concluded with a unified call for all party members to remain active and committed, underscoring that the APC remains a formidable political force in Ipokia, strengthened by the dedication and cooperation of its grassroots.
