The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command. The announcement was made today, Monday, 17th February 2025, following the Commission’s approval.
CP Jimoh, a seasoned officer with an impressive track record, was previously the Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports. A native of Kwara State, he brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various high-profile positions, including Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation.
With a distinguished career spanning several decades, CP Jimoh has undergone extensive professional training both locally and internationally. His training includes Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College, Maiduguri; African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan; Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure First Responder Training in the United States; and specialized courses in China, such as Social Construction and Management Reform at the China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong, and Maritime Rescue and Salvage at the China Maritime Academy, Ningbo. He also trained in anti-hijacking techniques and tactics at the Yunnan Police College, Kunming, and attended the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.
CP Jimoh is a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, conferred by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of public relations and his exemplary service to the nation.
The new Commissioner of Police appeared before the PSC today, where he was formally presented to the Commission’s leadership. In attendance were the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni; Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (rtd), Honourable Commissioner representing the Judiciary; and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, Honourable Commissioner representing the Police.
CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh’s appointment comes at a critical time for Lagos State, and his extensive experience is expected to bolster security and policing efforts in the region. The public and stakeholders have expressed optimism about his ability to lead the Lagos State Command effectively.
