The Ogun State Police Command has declared popular musician Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, widely known as “Portable,” wanted for his alleged involvement in a violent attack on government officials carrying out their lawful duties. The announcement was made in a press release issued by the Command on Sunday, February 17, 2025.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., when officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office, were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. The officials, identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, encountered an elderly man at Odogwu Bar, who was later identified as Portable’s father.
The officials reportedly requested the approved building plan for the property, to which the elderly man responded that his son, Portable, was unavailable. Moments later, Portable allegedly arrived at the scene armed with a firearm and other dangerous weapons, accompanied by a gang of nine thugs. The group reportedly launched a violent attack on the unarmed officials, leaving them with various bodily injuries. The officials managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, which subsequently escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
Nine accomplices were arrested in connection with the attack, but Portable fled the scene and has since remained at large. The Ogun State Police Command stated that multiple formal invitations were sent to Portable, requesting his presence at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. However, the musician reportedly ignored these invitations without providing any justification or legal representation.
In response to his repeated evasion, the Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring Portable wanted. The public has been urged to assist law enforcement by providing any information that could lead to his arrest. The Command also warned that anyone found aiding or harbouring the suspect would face legal consequences.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command, emphasized the seriousness of the matter and called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. She advised anyone with relevant information to report to the nearest police station or contact the Command through its official communication channels.
The declaration has sparked widespread reactions, with many expressing concern over the alleged involvement of the controversial musician in such a violent incident. As the manhunt intensifies, the Ogun State Police Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served.
