LAGOS – In a significant reversal of his previous stance, prominent On-Air Personality and owner of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has issued a public apology to Nigerian artist Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.

The apology pertains to allegations Hamzat made in September 2024, which linked the singer to the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad. The incident had sparked national outrage and led to a wave of accusations directed at Naira Marley and his associates.

In the emotional broadcast, Hamzat recounted how, at the height of the public fury following Mohbad’s passing, he had instructed his radio station to impose a complete ban on playing all songs from Marlian Records.

However, addressing his audience on air, the broadcaster stated that the two-year ban has been officially lifted with immediate effect. He confirmed that music from Naira Marley and his Marlian Records label will once again be featured on the station’s playlist.

Expressing deep regret for his earlier actions, Hamzat admitted to having misjudged the situation and the artist.

“I wish to express my sincere regret for the position I took at the time. I had wrongly judged the artist based on the prevalent information then,” he stated during the broadcast.

He further assured listeners and the artist that tracks from Marlian Records would now enjoy full airplay on Agidigbo FM, marking an end to the prolonged boycott.
