Sagamu – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has issued a stern warning to individuals or groups planning to disrupt the upcoming by-election for the Remo Federal Constituency, scheduled for Saturday, August 16.

The governor issued the caution during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally held in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, on Tuesday. He emphasised that the election is not a war but a democratic process to elect a replacement for the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who previously represented the constituency in the House of Representatives.

Abiodun stated, “I have heard that some people are issuing threats; this is not a threat we will take lightly. Let me say this: anyone who troubles you on Saturday will be dealt with.”

Asserting his authority as the state’s Chief Security Officer, the governor assured residents of their safety, urging them to come out en masse to vote without fear. *”By the grace of God and by your votes, I am the Executive Governor of Ogun State. They are being jealous; you cannot compare death with sleep. I am also the Chief Security Officer of Ogun State,”* he said.

He further warned troublemakers, declaring, *”Let us all come out on Saturday; don’t be afraid at all. Any threat they issue against you won’t come to fruition. I stand with you; anyone we catch will face the full wrath of the law.”*

Abiodun stressed that the election should be conducted peacefully, without thuggery, and focused on continuing the legacy of the late Hon. Onanuga, popularly known as *’Ijaya.’* He expressed confidence in the APC candidate, Hon. Adesola Elegbeji, describing her as intellectually sound and capable of providing quality representation.

“Elegbeji will represent you well in the House of Representatives. She is highly intellectual, cool-headed, and knowledgeable,” he said.

The governor also acknowledged Ogijo’s strategic importance as a border town and pledged continued government attention to its development.

The by-election is expected to proceed under tight security as the state government vows to clamp down on any form of electoral violence.
