SAGAMU – A press conference convened by the Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, to address the state of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the district has been exposed as a gathering of political nonentities, suspended members, and individuals who have long abandoned the party, an investigation by Oguninsight.com has revealed.

The conference, held at the Asoludero Court in Sagamu on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, featured a list of 32 individuals presented as stakeholders and leaders of the APC in Ogun East. However, multiple party sources have confirmed that not a single serving ward or local government executive member of the APC was among the signatories.
A high-ranking leader within the Ogun East APC caucus, who spoke on condition of anonymity, dismissed the gathering with contempt.
“We do not have much to say about the vituperation of the OGD-APC Association of Political Columnists than to X-ray the caliber of people OGD is left with as leaders – clearly an exhibition of approbrium for his status as a former Governor and current Senator of Ogun East,” the source stated. “That’s why it’s an absolute waste of time giving attention to it.”
“You can’t beat errants children and equally deny them the comfort of wailing” if wale Adedayo, a suspended chairman of the local now emerges as media consultant to a suspended member of the party, birds of the same feather flock together” APC chieftain said..
Investigation by this newspaper uncovered that the so-called “leaders” are primarily coordinators of Senator Daniel’s political movement, many of whom are not card-carrying members of the APC and have not participated in party activities since the 2023 elections, during which they were accused of anti-party activities.
“Paper-Weight” Politicians with No Grassroots Value
Findings indicate that Senator Daniel’s coordinators across the local governments, whom he tagged as “Ogun East APC Senatorial leaders,” hold no significant position within the party’s structure. For instance:
· Hon. Taiwo Nodiru, listed as the Coordinator for Ifelodun in Ijebu North, has been suspended from the APC for the past four months.
· Comrade Jide Onadeko, the Coordinator for Ijebu Igbo State Constituency, was described as “a mere party member in Ward 01, Atikori.” A source within Ijebu North lamented, “He’s not even a leader in his ward, not to talk of our Senatorial district.”
· Akin Onalaja, also from Ijebu North, was bluntly assessed by a party member: “To be frank and with due respect, he has no value in Ago Iwoye political space.”
· Other named individuals include Dr. Korede Okusanya (Ikenne), Aregbe Habeeb (Ijebu Ode), and Kola Onadipe (Ijebu North East), all identified as “paper/Media weight politicians” who have left the party.
One party stalwart challenged the authenticity of the gathering, stating, “How can Gateway Fronts coordinators be termed an All Progressives Congress meeting? We challenge all the attendees of the press conference to display their ward congress attendance register to convince the public the last time they stepped into an APC meeting, if they even know the ward secretariat in their wards.”
Daniel’s Suspension and Path of “Recidivism”
Critics of the press conference questioned the absence of recognized party stalwarts. “They said Ogun East senatorial leaders, please go and re-write it. Where are these people such as Senator Adegbenga Kaka, Prince Segun Adesegun, former Deputy Governor, and Otunba Bimbo Ashiru to mention a few? These are the APC leaders in Ogun East,” a party faithful, Aina Stephen, queried.
The press conference comes against the backdrop of the APC’s indefinite suspension of Senator Daniel for alleged anti-party activities. A party leader noted that rather than show contrition, the former governor has “drifted further to the destructive path of recidivism.”
The party maintains that any legitimate discourse on the state of the APC in Ogun East should be led by the duly elected senatorial chairman and other recognized leaders from the district, not by a group of individuals with tenuous links to the party.
Efforts to reach the Senator’s Media Aide, Mr. Steve Oliyide, for his reaction to these allegations were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
