Ipokia, Nigeria – The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, popularly known as Cornerstone, has pledged his administration’s full support to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in combating the misuse of hard drugs within the council area.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the Deputy Commandant of Narcotics, NDLEA Idiroko Command, Akande Olasumbo, to the chairman’s office on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Hon. Avoseh emphasized the importance of collaboration between the local government and the NDLEA, stating that his administration would actively engage in sensitizing the community to the dangers of drug abuse. He also announced plans to establish a dedicated forum to address the misuse of drugs in the area.
In his remarks, Commandant Olasumbo commended Hon. Avoseh on his recent election as Executive Chairman and discussed strategies for reducing both the demand and supply of illicit drugs within Ipokia Local Government. He expressed optimism that the partnership would yield significant results in curbing drug-related challenges in the community.
The meeting was attended by key local government officials, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Olufunmilayo Okewole; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Emmanuel Senapon Pogbe; the Council Treasurer, Mr Rotimi Opeodu; the Director of Administration and General Services, MMrAdeogun Abiodun; and the Director of Information, MMrsOlumide Esther O.
