IPOKIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT, OGUN STATE – In a decisive move to foster unity and transparency within community development structures, the Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, presided over a crucial peace and resolution meeting on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025. The meeting was held between the 19 Area CDC Chairmen and the Zonal Chairman of the Community Development Council (CDC) in Ipokia Local Government.

This gathering marked the final session in a series of reconciliatory engagements initiated three weeks ago. The meetings were convened following formal protests lodged by the Area CDC Chairmen against the Zonal Chairman, Mr. Ayinde Suuru. The petition accused the Zonal Chairman of highhandedness, abuse of office, lack of inclusivity, and alleged financial misappropriation.

To ensure a fair hearing and transparency, all 19 Area CDC Chairmen and the Zonal Chairman were invited to a joint meeting where both parties were given a full opportunity to present their grievances and defence, respectively.

Following the initial deliberations, the Chairman instructed a one-week reconciliation period for the parties to find common ground and realign their commitment to community development. This week’s meeting, the third on the matter, served as the final review of the reconciliation efforts.

From the feedback presented, it became evident that mutual trust and collaboration had broken down irreparably. In adherence to democratic principles, the Executive Chairman called for a vote of confidence among the Area CDC Chairmen. Out of the 17 votes cast, only two supported Mr. Ayinde Suuru’s continuation in office, while fifteen, including his Vice Chairman, voted for his removal.

Consequently, the Chairman declared the immediate removal of Mr. Ayinde Suuru from office and directed the Vice Chairman to assume the position of Acting Zonal Chairman pending further directives.
