Ogun State Police Launch Manhunt for Suspect Amid Rising Stabbing Incidents
The tragic incident occurred during an altercation between Majekodunmi and a man known as Toheeb, popularly called “Tabaiye.” Eyewitnesses reported that the dispute escalated when Toheeb’s elder brother, Amosun, allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed Majekodunmi in the lower part of his left arm, inflicting a severe wound.
Despite being rushed to two different hospitals by party guests and eyewitnesses, Majekodunmi was reportedly denied treatment by medical staff. He was later confirmed dead on arrival at Ota General Hospital, the third facility he was taken to after the incident.
The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim’s younger brother, Yusuf, reported the case at the Onipanu Police Division around 8:45 p.m. on Friday.
“Our men visited the scene, took photographs, and transferred the body to the hospital morgue for autopsy. The suspect, Amosun, remains at large, and authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend him. The case is under investigation by the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB), while efforts to track down the suspect continue,” Odutola said.
This incident marks the third fatal stabbing in Ogun State in less than two weeks. On March 3, 2025, an 80-year-old woman, Ladan Bature, was fatally stabbed during an argument at the Kara Cattle Market along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Isheri Olofin. Additionally, on Sunday, a farmworker identified as Benson was also stabbed to death.
The police have urged anyone with information on Amosun’s whereabouts to come forward as investigations continue.
