In a move to deliver on his promise of grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has initiated a series of people-oriented projects aimed at improving the lives of residents and indigenes across the area.

The projects, which span various sectors, include the refurbishment of the Legislative Chamber to enhance lawmaking efficiency, the rehabilitation of a health facility in Ijemo Sotan (now 80% complete), and the grading of roads across the 12 wards of the local government. These road rehabilitation efforts are designed to improve transportation, particularly for rural farmers, easing the movement of farm produce to markets.

Some of the recently graded roads include:
– Mowe Axis: Pakuro Road, Bodude Town, Imedun Olori, Imedun Testimony, Ore Meji 1, Ore Meji 2, Anti Junction Road, and Imedun Oke Road.
– Ibafo Axis: Papa Orimerunmu, Association Avenue (off Adesan Road), and Mr. Biggs Roundabout Orimerunmu.

Grading operations are set to continue in Abiodun Town, Jabutu Sote Junction, Lukak Orimerunmu Road, Temidire Road, and Ijere Elelede Road in the coming week.

In the education sector, the local government has begun the production and distribution of over 2,000 copies of 60-leaf exercise books and other writing materials to pupils in public primary schools, ensuring access to essential learning resources.

Additionally, in partnership with Smart Gas Energy Company and Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB), the council has facilitated the distribution of free gas cylinders to vulnerable women. This initiative aims to reduce the health risks associated with cooking with firewood and promote environmental sustainability. The distribution will take place at the council secretariat on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Other ongoing initiatives include social security programs, market development, healthcare improvements, environmental sanitation, provision of water and electricity, classroom rehabilitation, agricultural support, youth empowerment, and cultural and sports programs.

Amb. Ogunsola expressed his gratitude to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, for the opportunity to serve another term and implement his grassroots governance agenda. He also thanked the people of Obafemi Owode for their support, promising to leave no stone unturned in delivering impactful projects within available financial resources.
