OBEAFEMI OWODE– In response to a recently circulated false security threat, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, has convened a strategic meeting with top security chiefs and community stakeholders to reinforce security protocols across the council area.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, aimed to align local security efforts with the Ogun State Government’s stance and to reassure residents following an unsubstantiated security alert on social media concerning the Ajebo axis.
Represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kayode Dipeolu, the Council Boss emphasized that safeguarding lives and property remains the administration’s top priority. He charged security agencies to double their surveillance and intensify patrols, especially with the Christmas season approaching.
“Security is everyone’s business. We urge our Traditional Rulers, Community Development Associations, and Religious Leaders to be more vigilant and mindful of the influx of people into their localities,” Dipeolu stated. “Do not entertain anyone without proper means of identification and a legal means of livelihood.”
He called for a stronger Community-Security Agency Partnership, encouraging residents to adopt the “see something, say something” principle and report any suspicious activities immediately.
The LG Chairman commended the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Amotekun Corps. He assured residents to go about their normal businesses without panic, stating that the security agencies in the area are “capable and dependable.”
In his remarks, His Royal Highness, Oba Ruben Sogaolu, the Olu of Oriole Imo, praised the Chairman for his proactive approach to security and urged the police not to dismiss any piece of information, no matter how small.
The well-attended meeting included security personnel, traditional rulers, baales, councillors, and top local government officials.
