In a significant move to boost economic activities and enhance community development, the Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. (Dr) Waliat Folasade Adeyemo, officially flagged off the Leso Daily Community Market in the Kotopo area of the Local Government on Tuesday.
The event, which was attended by key stakeholders, community leaders, and residents, marked a milestone in the efforts to provide a convenient and accessible marketplace for the people of Odeda.
In her address, Hon. Adeyemo expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the successful realization of the project and extended her appreciation to the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his unwavering support and visionary leadership. She also commended the Leso Community Market Executives for their initiative and dedication to establishing the market.
“The establishment of this market is a welcome development for our community. It will not only boost economic activities but also provide a platform for our people to thrive,” she stated.
Hon. Adeyemo urged traders and stakeholders to take ownership of the market and ensure its proper maintenance for the benefit of all.
The Zonal Community Development Chairman (CDC), Comrade Emmanuel Iyasere, in his welcome address, lauded the Local Government Chairman for her commitment to community development. He also appreciated the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Adigun Nasiru, and the five-man committee tasked with overseeing the market’s establishment for their diligent efforts.
Similarly, the Baale of Leso Community, Chief Lateef Mukaila Aremu, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Adeyemo for her dedication to good governance and community welfare. He thanked everyone present for their support in making the project a reality.
The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Vice-Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Adigun Nasiru; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Oyekunle Adebayo Oluwagbemiro; the Councilor representing Osiele Ward, Hon. Oyedele Rasheed; the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Dr. Adekoya Olusoji; Directors and Heads of various departments, royal fathers, political leaders, community leaders, market women, and well-wishers.
The Leso Daily Community Market is expected to serve as a hub for economic activities, fostering trade and commerce while improving the livelihoods of residents in the area.
