The Ogun State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1,668,997,993,125.44 into law, just 26 days after it was presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
During the plenary presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide, the legislature also approved the Revised 2025 Budget and the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
The passage followed the presentation and adoption of the report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi. The bill was subsequently read and adopted clause-by-clause by the Committee of the Whole House.
In his report, Hon. Lamidi disclosed that the Assembly made adjustments to the budget proposals of three Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). These adjustments led to an upward review of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) projection by N2.193 billion. A corresponding reduction was made from the capital receipt estimate, leaving the total budget size unchanged at the N1.668 trillion initially proposed by the governor.
Following a motion for the third reading moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, and supported by a unanimous voice vote, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, performed the final reading.
Speaker Elemide subsequently directed that a clean copy of the passed Appropriation Bill be transmitted to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
