The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Alaperu of Iperu-Remo, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo, describing his death as a significant loss to the ranks of revered traditional rulers in the state. Elemide praised the late monarch for his dedication to preserving cultural heritage, fostering goodwill, and promoting nobility in service to the people of Remoland.
The Speaker made these remarks during a condolence visit to the Council of Chiefs at the Alaperu Palace in Iperu, accompanied by fellow lawmakers and the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Adebakin Sakiru. Elemide described Oba Idowu-Basibo’s demise as a “rude shock,” highlighting the monarch’s simplicity, mutual respect, kind-heartedness, and love for all, which he said had left an indelible mark on the community.
Elemide noted that the late Alaperu utilized his position to drive growth and development in Remoland, fostering a harmonious relationship with the political class. He urged the chiefs and people of Remoland to ensure a seamless succession process by the traditions, culture, and laws of the state.
In their responses, the Lisa of Remoland, Chief Rotimi Odutona, and the Oluwo of Remoland, Chief Saheed Ifasola, thanked the lawmakers for their visit and commended their support for the current administration. They assured the delegation that the Council of Chiefs would remain committed to upholding the traditional administration of the community and preserving its rich cultural heritage, customs, and values.
The late Oba Idowu-Basibo is remembered as a monarch who left a lasting legacy of unity, progress, and exemplary leadership in Remoland.
