The acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Mr Adeniyi Oluwaseun on Sunday committed suicide, by jumping into a well.
This Newspaper reliably gathered that the incident occurred in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, shortly after Adeniyi had his dinner.
It was further learnt that one of Adeniyi’s children was set to marry a month before the tragic incident happened.
His body has been recovered from the well and has since been deposited at a morgue.
Though the reasons behind the tragic act are yet to be determined, a source disclosed that Adeniyi had a history of mental health struggles, although the specific nature of his condition remains undisclosed.
The Head of the Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, Segun Orisajo confirmed the incident and expressed the hospital management’s deep sorrow.
Orisajo stated, “It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development’.
Hedevelopmenthe late Adeniyi was a hardworking and loyal staff member whose sudden death came as a shock to everyone at the hospital.
“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is a quiet and irreparable loss.
“The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” Orisajo added.
