Abeokuta – Victor Fajemirokun, the prime suspect in the murder of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer Lasisi Funmilayo and her daughter, Sewa, has confessed to actively participating in their killings, upending earlier claims of mere presence.

Fajemirokun, 40, was paraded on Wednesday at the Osun State Police Command headquarters alongside herbalists Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James. He detailed how he lured the deceased from their Abeokuta home to Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, under the guise of spiritual cleansing.

The businessman from Osogbo stated that a cleric had convinced him that the 39-year-old FRSC officer was spiritually responsible for his misfortunes. “As long as Funmilayo was alive, I would not be successful,” Fajemirokun recounted being told.

Contradicting an initial statement where he suggested he was a bystander, Fajemirokun admitted, “It was in the bush that we killed her. The daughter went to the bush with us.” He claimed he felt “hypnotised” and fled to a mountain in Ikoyi and later to Ibadan after the act, only learning from news reports that their organs had been harvested.

His confession aligns with that of herbalist Sunday James, who told police that Fajemirokun brought the victims to Daramola’s house for the explicit purpose of a ritual killing. “My boss told me that Victor had gone to an alfa before, where he was told that his woman friend had used his glory. So, he was there for them to kill his wife and his child,” James said, adding that he slit their throats on Daramola’s orders.

However, the alleged master herbalist, Gboyega Daramola, shifted blame, claiming it was Fajemirokun who instructed the killings and denying he was present during the crime.

Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Gotan, outlined the horrifying details. The mutilated body of Funmilayo was recovered from the Esa-Odo Dam on November 17, missing her head, breasts, hands, and private parts. The body of her young daughter, Sewa, was later found in a bush, also missing vital parts.

Fajemirokun, who had fled to Ghana, was apprehended through Interpol collaboration and repatriated to face justice.

CP Gotan assured the public that all arrested suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend remaining accomplices, Kehinde and Idowu, who are still at large.
