Prominent leaders and dignitaries, including Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and Odeda Local Government Chairman Hon. Folasade Adeyemo, gathered in Abeokuta to celebrate the promotion thanksgiving and reception of Major General Samuel Oluwatobi Adejimi. The event, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Marquee, honoured the military chief’s exceptional career and contributions to national security.

Governor Abiodun, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, described Major General Adejimi as a “beacon of outstanding leadership and selfless service.” He praised the military officer’s over three decades of service, noting his unwavering commitment to national defence and the well-being of Nigerians.

“This promotion is not merely a personal achievement but a recognition of the collective spirit of the Nigerian Army,” Governor Abiodun stated. “Maj Gen Adejimi has consistently shown exceptional leadership both in the field and at a strategic level, earning him the trust and respect of his peers, subordinates, and the wider Nigerian public.”

The Governor emphasized that Major General Adejimi’s leadership has inspired countless soldiers and protected numerous communities, adding that his administration would continue to draw from the military chief’s wealth of experience, courage, and integrity.

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, urged the Federal Government to maximize the expertise of top military officers who often retire early due to service years rather than age. He stressed the need to retain such highly trained personnel to ensure the nation benefits from the resources invested in their training.

Major General Adejimi, who hails from Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, serves as the Director of Movements at the Army Headquarters. His promotion was celebrated as a testament to his dedication, humility, and exemplary service.

The event was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Kwara State Governor Senator Bukola Saraki and his wife, and other notable figures. Their presence underscored the high regard in which Major General Adejimi is held and the significance of his contributions to Nigeria’s peace and security.

The celebration highlighted Major General Adejimi’s role as a military trailblazer and a symbol of excellence, inspiring future generations to uphold the values of service, integrity, and patriotism.
