In a swift rebuttal to swirling rumours, the Oyo State Government has categorically denied reports claiming the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. The revered monarch, whose health had been the subject of speculation, is very much alive and in good health, according to reliable sources close to the royal family.

The rumours, which began circulating late Monday night, suggested that the Olubadan had passed away. However, in an exclusive interview with *PUNCH Online*, Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatunbosun, firmly dismissed the claims, describing them as baseless and unfounded.

“The Olubadan is alive, hale, and hearty,” Olatunbosun stated emphatically. “I have personally spoken with Prince Olaseke Owolabi Olakulehin, one of the sons representing the family at the coronation committee, and he confirmed that the monarch is in good health.”

The Commissioner’s statement comes as a relief to the people of Ibadan and the broader Yoruba community, who hold the Olubadan in high esteem. The revered traditional ruler, who ascended the throne in a historic coronation ceremony, is seen as a unifying figure and a custodian of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.

The Oyo State Government has urged the public to disregard the false reports and refrain from spreading unverified information. “We call on the media and the general public to exercise caution and verify their sources before publishing such sensitive information,” Olatunbosun added.

This development follows a series of high-profile actions by the Oyo State Government, including the recent demolition of illegal structures on government land and the sealing of facilities violating environmental regulations. The government’s swift response to the Olubadan rumours underscores its commitment to maintaining stability and order in the state.

As the news of the Olubadan’s well-being spreads, the people of Ibadan can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their beloved monarch continues to reign in good health. The palace has yet to issue an official statement, but sources close to the royal family have assured that all is well.

For now, the rumours of the Olubadan’s demise have been laid to rest, and life in Ibadan continues as usual, under the watchful and steady leadership of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
