Renowned Nigerian physician, politician, and former presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has died at the age of 72. His passing marks the end of a long and courageous battle with cancer, a struggle that spanned over 16 years.

Sources close to the family revealed that Dr. Okupe had been critically ill in the weeks leading up to his death, with his health deteriorating significantly. Concerns had grown among his loved ones and supporters as his condition worsened.

In October 2023, it was reported that Dr. Okupe was hospitalized due to prostate cancer and was subsequently flown to Israel for specialized treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals and the hopes of his family, his condition did not improve as anticipated.

Dr. Okupe was first diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago. Over time, he also developed sarcoma in his right shoulder, further complicating his health challenges. His death is a significant loss to Nigeria’s political and medical communities, where he was widely respected for his contributions and dedication.

Dr. Okupe’s legacy as a physician, political strategist, and public servant will be remembered by many. His family has requested privacy during this difficult time as they mourn the loss of a beloved father, husband, and leader.
